Everything you need to know about the Eyerising Myopia Management Device.

How many years does my child need to use the device for? ⌄

The goal of myopia management is to control or stabilise its progression. Younger children may need myopia management for a longer time, and teenagers may require it for a shorter time. Your eye care professional will be able to work with you and your child to determine your full duration of treatment.

The goal of myopia management is to control or stabilise its progression. Younger patients may need myopia management for a longer time, and teenagers may require it for a shorter time. Individualised assessment will determine the patient's full duration of treatment.

How often does my child need to use the device? ⌄

We recommend keeping compliant to our 3-2-5 protocol as much as possible -- 3 minutes, 2 times a day, 5 days per week. Studies have shown that higher treatment compliance results in higher efficacy.

Does my child need to use the device at the same time each day? ⌄

No, your child can use the device at any time during the day and on any 5 days during the week. However, there must be at least a 4-hour interval between two sessions on the same day. We recommend using the device from Monday to Friday and taking the weekends off.

The commonest side effect observed is afterimage, where the child can still see the red light after treatment. This typically disappears within a few minutes, and we recommend the child close their eyes during this time. If the afterimage lasts longer than 5 minutes, please seek advice from your eye care professional.

Your child needs to wear glasses to get corrected vision during the day, but glasses should not be worn during treatment sessions.

Can RLRL be combined with other myopia treatments? ⌄

Yes, RLRL can be used in conjunction with orthokeratology lenses, soft contact lenses (e.g. MiSight) and specially designed glasses (e.g. Miyosmart). However, RLRL cannot be used in conjunction with atropine. Children on atropine must stop for 2 weeks prior to commencing RLRL therapy. Please discuss the best course of treatment for your child with your eyecare professional.

We understand that it may be difficult to bring the device with you on holiday. If your child misses a few days of treatment, this should not cause any issues. However, we do recommend bringing the device with you if possible, especially for longer trips.
